The JCC Maccabi Games® is a celebration of the whole community, working together to strengthen our identity, engage volunteers of every age, and build a foundation for what comes next.
The week will take more than 1,000 volunteers. From host families to event operations and everything in between, there is a role to fit your interest, your talent, and your schedule — during the Games or in the months leading up to them.
Volunteers must be 18 or older as of July 31, 2027, for daytime shifts, or 21 and over for the evening social events. Volunteers of all faiths are welcome.
Where volunteers are needed
- Arrivals and departures — greet delegations at the airport, hand out hospitality bags, and stay with athletes until their host family collects them.
- Athletics — scorekeeping, timekeeping, and whatever the venue director needs.
- Evening events — set up, run, and clear activities, and supervise athletes through the evening.
- Food service — set up and clear the meal room, serve and replenish food, and keep drinks and snacks stocked across the venues.
- Hospitality — staff the tables at the hotel, the J, and the venues; answer questions about the Games and about visiting Philadelphia; hand out goodie bags.
- Hangtime — run the downtime activities at the hub and supervise athletes throughout.
- JCC Cares — help with the community service projects that run through the week.
- Maccabi Central — office support and troubleshooting for volunteers, athletes, and coaches, including phone calls and credentials.
- Medical — support the medical services during the Games. Medical volunteers are approved by the medical team.
- Transportation — coordinate athletes and buses at venues and at the J, and manage parking and traffic.
- Safety and security — check credentials at venue entrances.
Questions volunteers ask
Is there a minimum age?
Yes. Volunteers must be 18 or older as of July 31, 2027, for daytime shifts, and 21 or older for evening social events.
Do I need to know about sports?
No. Volunteers are needed everywhere from food service to evening events, and most roles have nothing to do with knowing a sport.
I do not know my schedule yet. Can I still sign up?
Yes. Register your interest now and share your availability later.
I can only spare a few hours. Is that worth it?
Yes. Any availability helps, and a single shift is genuinely useful.
Do I need to be a member of the J?
No. The whole community is invited to take part, though athletes and host families do need to be Jewish.
My child is competing. Can I volunteer then?
We would rather you watched them. There will be plenty of shifts while your child is not competing, and during the evening activities.
What do I wear?
You will be given a volunteer shirt, to be worn on every shift.
Is parking available?
Yes, at all venues. Details closer to the Games.
I am away during the Games. Can I still help?
Yes. There is plenty to do in the planning months beforehand.
How do I sign up?
